UK Primary Care Series

GPN is proud to launch the Primary Care Series, a dedicated programme exploring the transformation and future of primary care in the UK and abroad. Building on the success of our previous policy series in areas such as pharmacy optimisation and digital health, this initiative aims to examine what is currently working in primary care systems and what more can be achieved through informed, evidence-based policy. Through the series, we will explore the motivators and barriers to integration, workforce sustainability, equitable access, and technology adoption — alongside policy, operational, and cultural enablers that can drive lasting improvement.

By bringing together leaders from healthcare, policy, academia, technology, and beyond, we aim to foster a dynamic, multi-perspective conversation that generates practical, actionable solutions. The Primary Care Series will also examine how policy can close existing gaps and enhance service coordination, efficiency, and resilience ensuring primary care remains at the heart of sustainable, high-quality health systems. This marks the next phase in GPN’s global programme of targeted policy dialogues, with future discussions expanding to include innovations in prevention, community health models, and population health management.

GPN remains committed to driving meaningful change through inclusive, regionally grounded policy conversations.

"I’m leading GP Partner and Healthcare Consultant, and I’m inviting primary care
leaders, policymakers, health tech innovators, and system change-makers to join me at a Global Policy Network roundtable on 8th October at HETT, the UK’s leading digital health and health tech event. We’ll explore the future of primary care from shifting care out of hospitals and into the community, to moving from analogue to digital, and from treatment to prevention. Together, we’ll examine how these changes can improve financial sustainability, strengthen the workforce, and deliver better patient outcomes, while tackling the integration of services, accelerating digital adoption, overcoming barriers to prevention, and closing policy gaps. We’ll also consider the role of technology and innovation at every stage, and how we measure success through clear KPIs for workforce, patient outcomes, and efficiency.

This roundtable will be a space to challenge assumptions, share practical solutions, and shape a primary care system that truly works for people, patients, and professionals. Your insights will help shape smarter, more sustainable primary care policy. Let’s build the future together".
