"I’ve had the privilege of mentoring, two talented Fellows on the GPN Fellowship Programme, as they support the GPN Pharmacy Policy Series exploring the future of pharmacy in the UK and globally. Through bi-monthly research sessions and workshops I delivered on the UK pharmacy landscape, we’ve been diving deep into the evolving role of pharmacy in health systems.

The fellowship has been a transformative experience for me. It gave me practical tools, critical friends and the confidence to engage more boldly on medicines and health-systems reform. The blend of technical depth, supportive coaching and peer learning has directly strengthened my work on DRF, DMA and service-improvement agendas.

My time as a fellow at GPN was an incredible learning experience. Starting in the social media team, I gained hands-on skills in crafting messages that made complex healthcare policy issues accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. The fellowship gave me the confidence to experiment, refine, and grow as a communicator. Over time, I was entrusted with leading the team, which taught me the importance of collaboration, strategy, and amplifying others' voices. That journey, from fellow to team lead, not only shaped my professional path but also deepened my commitment to using communications as a tool for impact and change.

Usman Nasiru

My fellowship with the Global Policy Network was a defining leadership experience. I contributed directly to national policy outputs, partnership building, fundraising, and organisational strategy, while working alongside a highly skilled global team. GPN provided the platform, trust, and mentorship that allowed me to grow as a policy professional and to contribute meaningfully to health systems reform in Nigeria and across Africa.

Through my work on the Ethiopia policy series, I have been able to ge global perspectives on healthcare. I have developed the ability to multitask, organise roundtables, which has helped me engage with more industry professionals, who have given me insight into the world of public policy and healthcare. Understanding the policies related to the 10-year plan and primary care. I have worked on roundtables which have a futuristic perspective on these policies by involving technological development and AI in these discussions.

Adun Kennedy

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as a Fellow with the Global Policy Network (GPN). During my fellowship, I contributed to the Roundtable 3 report, “Making the Most of the Pharmacy Workforce,” participated in Nigeria roundtable discussions, and supported stakeholder engagement and coordination activities. I also assisted with fundraising initiatives, including grant-related work and proposal development.
This experience strengthened my understanding of global health systems, workforce optimisation, fundraising strategy, and collaborative problem-solving, reinforcing my commitment to improving healthcare in Nigeria and globally.
