Paediatric Allergy Policy Series
The GPN Paediatric Allergy Policy Series explores how the National Health Services (NHS) can deliver earlier identification and consistent, family-centred management of paediatric allergies across the NHS and close the gap on inequalities.
Through a programme of closed-door roundtables and a policy white paper, the series will bring together senior clinicians, commissioners, dietitians, pharmacists, and patient advocates to identify practical improvements that standardise pathways, reduce unwarranted variation, and improve outcomes for infants and families.

Roundtable 1: Closing the Gaps in CMPA- Prevention, Timely Diagnosis and Equitable Access to Care
Date: 13th March 2026 | Time: 13:00-14:30 UK Time (GMT)
Theme: Cow's Milk Protein Allergy Prevention and Health System Impact
Overview:
This roundtable will examine how prevention and early action can reduce time to diagnosis, avoid unnecessary prescribing, and improve growth and well-being outcomes for children presenting with CMPA. Crucially, the discussion will highlight how inequalities are an integral part of the issue. Children from disadvantaged backgrounds or underserved communities often face delayed diagnosis, limited access to allergy specialists, and inconsistent application of evidence-based pathways, which can contribute to prolonged symptoms and poorer health outcomes. The discussion will focus on the health system impact of consistent, evidence-based pathways, including how integrated neighbourhood teams can support earlier recognition of both IgE and non-IgE presentations, effective safety-netting, and timely access to dietetic care.
