Roundtable Six: A Pharmacy Lens on CVRM and Obesity- Integrated Neighbourhood Care

This report draws on insights from the roundtable of the same name, held in November 2025 at Clinical Pharmacy Congress North, and chaired by Ghulam Haydar

Executive Summary

This report from the Global Policy Network summarises discussions from Roundtable Six of the UK Medicines Policy Series, held at the Clinical Pharmacy Congress North in November 2025. Bringing together senior pharmacy, academic and policy leaders, the session explored how pharmacy can support integrated neighbourhood care for cardiovascular, renal, metabolic and obesity-related conditions.

The discussion highlighted the growing burden of multimorbidity across the NHS and the need for coordinated, prevention-focused care models that integrate pharmacy more effectively within neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams. Participants identified several barriers to implementation, including fragmented digital systems, workforce readiness challenges, inconsistent operational delivery and limited investment in prevention.

The report sets out recommendations for NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care, Integrated Care Boards and pharmacy leaders, focusing on digital interoperability, independent prescribing readiness, neighbourhood care integration and earlier intervention to improve long-term population health outcomes.
